FATHER

We all have father's out there. Some are really great father's and then there are some that while they contributed the sperm to call them fathers is well I won't put it onto words. It's the fathers that are there no matter what for their children that I want to thank. My own father while he provided a roof over our heads and food to eat wasn't a very good father. But God says we are to honor are Mother and father so here is what I will try to do. My father was orphaned at the age of 12. He was raised by his sister and her husband for a few years until he was on his own. He was crippled shortly after and had a constant limp as one leg was about three inches shorter then the other. To me he was a mean old man. We worked from early morning until the sun set planting, weeding or cleaning, and canning. And it was hard work. My father had a "truck" garden that was our 1/2 acre plus another few more acres that he rented from our neighbor. We planted in "hotbeds" while the snow was still on the ground and once the frost was past we planted all that land in garden. We had everything under the sun. Plus we had a few fruit trees. My father thought nothing of backhanding us or beating us. But all in all he was a somewhat good father in that he made sure we had food to eat and clothes to wear. I guess it was in his later years that he began to change. It was after I left home. And he began to see the error of his ways. I wasn't here but many speak of it. So to my father. I thank you for working us hard for tearing up finished homework and making me redo it all. For pushing me and making me who I am today. But I want to thank my Heavenly father for keeping his hand on me and for protecting me and keeping me in his loving arms all these years. I love you both.
