The Storms started early this past week and have been going on for most of the week. We were out last Wednesday evening and a big storm hit and we took shelter from driving in a small brick built store. The winds came and the tornado sirens went off and so we stayed put. We watched the rains come down in buckets and hoped it'd stop soon as the store was closing soon. It did (the storm that is) and we went home and curled up to watch a bit of TV. Then on Friday night we took the grand kids to McDonald's, the first in a long time as Mom and Dad were going to a "Wake" and didn't want the kids there as it was our granddaughters 8th B-day. Again while at McD's the rains came and during a quiet spell we headed to the car to take them home. And of course as we got out at home the buckets (rains) were dumped again this time on me ( the grands thought this was funny) and by the time I got the kids in the house I was soaked. We went on home and not a minute to soon as the winds picked up and the rains and hail came down. The winds were 60 plus miles an hour and tore through Newark and knocked down trees and power lines along the "Granville Rd corridor"that leads tot he center of the square. The annual "Strawberry Festival was going on at the "Courthouse Square" when this hit and trees fell on vendors booths and even turned over a semi trailer that was the "Carnival Fun house."
No one was hurt but the lady running the fun house had to be cut out. Then yesterday the rains only hit. And all was calm until this morning. Tornado's all around us. Toledo had some and three lives were lost, a barn in Mansfield was blown away and hail hit Buckeye Lake, but here in Newark we were safe. Thank God Newark built in a valley because that is what protects us here. I'm hoping this is the end f the weather front but we'll see..... Until nest time this is the "Weather Mom" from here in Ohio with the latest updates.... LOL
